Leave Gunnison on US 50, ride west through the Black Canyon to Montrose, then south to Durango, Mesa Verde National Park and Cortez. And for those looking for a little more, ride to Four Corners to check out Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado, which is the only place in the U.S. where you can be in four states at the same time.
